Look at it like this:  You’re a father or mother of a little boy who has never seen a truck before or been in the road before.  Would you let that precious little boy out in the yard unsupervised without telling him to stay out of the road?  Would you tell him the dangers, in detail, about trucks and cars or would you simply tell him to stay out of the road?

Well, you are that little boy, precious in the eyes of your daddy, and your daddy is the Father God.  For quite some time He has simple told you to stay out of the road.  But, how many of you actually paid close attention to that and stayed out of the road.  If you haven’t figured it out yet, the road refers to bad talking, talking without thinking and cussing people out.  Ya see, those are your words, spawned by the devil but made yours when you let them out of your mouth.  One day a truck or car will come along and hit you.  The car or truck represents the day of judgement when your words come back on you, they manifest to you.

“For by your words you will be acquitted, and by your words you will be condemned,” (Matthew 12:37 New International Version).

I was talking to a friend on the phone, a guy I knew and worked with at my old church in Tulsa for many years.  He was telling me of a medical test he had to undergo every ten years, one that I had thirty years ago and couldn’t have again, no need.  He asked me why so I told him about me negative words, words that I spoke over myself unknowingly for four years.  Ya see, even though I was not a Christian yet, my words were still my undoing.  I went out in the road to play for a while (to use that illustration from the first two paragraphs).

Finally, a truck hit me (to go back to that illustration) and my judgement day came, my words manifested on me.  By this time I was born again, but that had no effect on those words coming on me, I never repented of those words, didn’t know I needed to, but I had stopped speaking them.  To this day I still don’t know if repenting of those words would have stopped the manifestation.

It was then, or soon after, that I began to learn how I could ‘reverse the curse.’  I had to learn how to speak nothing but good words over myself and others, not just over myself: I had to guard my tongue and speak only life-giving words.

“Death and life are in the power of the tongue, and those who love it will eat its fruit,” (Proverbs 18:21 New King James Version).

That means that when you speak you are loving the power of the tongue, and the results of the offspring of your tongue, your words.

Now, although Father didn’t go into detail about the dangers of your words, the Son, Jesus did (Matt. 12:37).  And I and many others can tell you, from experience, why they said what they said about words and the dangers of ill-fated and unmannerly words.
