Preachers and Teachers

Usually, it is the church board of the denomination that you call yours that gives you the message.  Your pastor or teacher gets the message topic from the board and does his or her studying according to the denominational message, then gives you the message.  So, if you are not encouraged to, actually, do anything about the work of God outside the four walls of the church, the blame would fall lightly on you, more so on you pastor or teacher, and more so on the board that passes down the message.  The pastor or teacher who gives you the message should be studying all issues of the word of God to find out if what he is about to give you is the whole truth.  And, if it is not right then he or she should tell you.  Either way, they should be directing your attention to what God has had written down and specifically the gospels and what Jesus did and said.

“This will be my third visit to you. “Every matter must be established by the testimony of two or three witnesses,” (2 Corinthians 13:1 New International Version).

This means that if the pastor or teacher says something is true it had better be backed up, somehow, in scripture (Old and New Testaments), the more verses to back it up, the more credible; that also makes it more relevant.

If your pastor or teacher doesn’t report to a denominational board then he is more to blame for not encouraging you to do God’s will.  But, he or she does not and should not get the full force of the blame, no, no, that would be a tragedy.  You, yes you, the very person whom the message is directed at, the one who has a Bible, has the will (a copy of God’s written will), and you can read it.  The final responsibility to know and do God’s will falls upon you.

But now, who is it that will judge you for not doing God’s will, or doing it for that matter?  Well, let’s see, it is God’s will and you have a copy of God’s will; it seems like the judge is God.  Yes, the board of whatever denomination you call yours should be giving you encouragement to do God’s will, your pastor or teacher should be doing the same.  But, ultimately, the one who should be looking in God’s word to find out what you should be doing and then doing it is you.  How tragic it would be for you to go to the place where God judges everyone, and find out that you were not doing His will; now, that would be a tragedy of tragedies.

“When the Son of Man comes in his glory, and all the angels with him, he will sit on his glorious throne.  All the nations will be gathered before him, and he will separate the people one from another as a shepherd separates the sheep from the goats,” (Matthew 25:31-32 New International Version).

Myself, I came to the realization that God never made provision for factions (denominations in the Body of Christ (the Church).

“I hear that some of you are saying, ‘I am a follower of Paul,’ and ‘I am a follower of Apollos,’ and ‘I am a follower of Peter,’ and ‘I am a follower of Christ.’ Has Christ been divided? Was Paul put on a cross to die for your sins? Were you baptized in the name of Paul?” (1 Corinthians 11:12-23 New Living Translation).

Factions are also listed under the acts of the flesh in Galatians chapter 5.  1 Corinthians 11:19 talks about factions as arguments.  All I can tell you about denominations is that they tend to limit the word of God, and I don’t want to be limited in any way.  Therefore, I don’t preach denominationalism and would rather be absolutely free of denominations all together.
