Then Jesus declared, “I am the bread of life. Whoever comes to me will never go hungry, and whoever believes in me will never be thirsty."

With a new look
Receive
There are two major reasons why people don’t receive from God what they had prayed for, actually there are many reasons but two reasons stand out. Those two reasons are (now, don’t get mad and stop reading) religion, (worldly-Christian religion) and self-pride.

That’s right, worldly-Christian religion; what I mean is many denominations let worldly phrases and ideas worm their way into the teaching of the pure word of God. The almighty supreme ruler of heaven and Earth is our loving, omnipotent, Father. Are you a child of God, have you declared and agree that Jesus is Lord? If you have and you still agree with that statement then He is your Father.

So, when you pray according to God’s word, follow the instructions for prayer, there is absolutely no reason why you shouldn’t have it, and God wants to give it to you. Worldly-Christian religion will not tell you that.
“This is the confidence we have in approaching God: that if we ask anything according to his will, he hears us. And if we know that he hears us—whatever we ask—we know that we have what we asked of him,” (1 John 5:14-15).
Worldly-Christian religion tells you that you have to see it, and be able to show it to others, before you can actually say it’s your (receive it). But that’s hog-wash. God wants us to show Him that we have faith for the thing He promised us when we prayed.
“No one can please God without faith, for whoever comes to God must have faith that God exists and rewards those who seek him,” (Hebrews 11:6 Good News Translation).

“Then behold, they brought to Him a paralytic lying on a bed. When Jesus saw their faith, He said to the paralytic, ‘Son, be of good cheer; your sins are forgiven you.’” (Matthew 9:2 New King James Version).
Did Jesus just see the faith of those who let him down through the roof? No, He also saw the faith of the paralytic, the man must have had faith to allow this to be done.

Also, as I said, self-pride would keep you from receiving. After you prayed for that new car you might think, ‘Wait a minute. What will the world think of me, a Christian, if I get this new car from God? This night ruin my witness.’ No it won’t! It will show that that your Father is the one true God who loves you beyond measure. It will be a testimony to the greatness of God, Jehovah Jirah. But that self-pride, what will they think of me, will stop you from receiving.

Now, there are more obstacles than those two that will keep you from receiving. There is fear, non-use of patience, wishy-washyness, unforgiveness, and the ‘if it be thy will’ syndrome; maybe more.

Yes, that’s right, non-use of patience. You have patience when you have Jesus because patience is an expression of love (the fruit of the Spirit). But you will need to use it; since time is involved in the manifestation you need to wait and thank God that it’s yours (confess that it’s yours). Fear (apprehension) of what you will do with it when it comes. After you prayed and set your sights on what you want you look at other things and think ‘Maybe I should have prayed for that one.’ Unforgiveness, grudge holding, a bad attitude. And not being sure that God would want you to have it, the ‘if it be thy will’ syndrome.

These things are all obstacles that need to be removed.
“Jesus replied, ‘Have faith in God [constantly] (vs. 22 Amplified Bible) Truly I tell you, if anyone says to this mountain, ‘Go, throw yourself into the sea,’ and does not doubt in their heart but believes that what they say will happen, it will be done for them (vs 23 New International Version) For this reason I am telling you, whatever things you ask for in prayer [in accordance with God’s will], believe [with confident trust] that you have received them, and they will be given to you (vs 24 Amplified Bible). But when you are praying, first forgive anyone you are holding a grudge against, so that your Father in heaven will forgive your sins, too,’” (vs 25 New Living Translation). (Mark 11:22-25)
