He Can’t or He Won’t

I have heard people who had cancer say, “God doesn’t heal anymore,” or, “I asked Him to take this but He won’t.”  They just won’t say He can’t.

“Jesus looked at them and said, ‘With man this is impossible, but with God all things are possible.’” (Matthew 19:26 New International Version).

So, man cannot do these things but God can.  But, those people are saying the all loving and powerful God, who will do anything that He can for those He loves, His children, won’t do it for them.  Well, no, that’s not true.  The truth is this all boils down to choice.  Those who have said God won’t would probably say, “Well, He chose not to.”

No, no, no; ten thousand times, no!  Moses made it pretty clear that the choice is ours, yours for your life and mine for my life (Deut. 30:19).  God can heal you of cancer, Alzheimer’s disease, any disease really and He wants to.  “So, why won’t He, then?”  Well, let’s see; there are two wills that have to do with your healing, God’s and yours.    And we’ve just figured, via Deut. 30:19, that it’s not God’s will that you remain sick.  I’m sorry to say this but that leaves only one will.  Go to the mirror and point at yourself, then come back and continue reading.  So, who did you see when you looked in the mirror, alone?  There’s the one who’s will is not right.  You’ve also got the matter of time for the manifestation.

Everyone says, I hear it all the time, God is in control.  I’ve got a good question for those people, one that no one has ever thought to ask; well, no one but me.  God is in control, of what?  Think about it, people have a choice as Deuteronomy says, people run the government, people pray for government officials, faith pleases God (Heb. 11:6), and God responds to a faith filled confession.  So, what does God control.  I don’t mean to step on your toes but…, well, yes, I do.  Yes, God is in ultimate control; meaning, if someone turns to Him for healing God will make sure it comes.  If everyone in the whole world decided to put their true faith in Jesus as Lord and do things His way then God would bring peace and there would be no wars.  God is not bringing the wars that kill His children.  So, the saying, “God is in control,” is usually used as a cop-out and an excuse for not knowing faith or how to use it, not walking in Godly love, giving up hope, and putting the blame on God.

When I pray for something I control the what and the why; He controls the where it manifests, the when, the how, and if need be, the who.  For instance; if I prayed for a Toyota Camry I have a reason why I want the Camry (that’s the what and why) and God controls by whom it will come, through whom, when it will manifest, where it will come in, and how it will get there.  Of course, God is in ultimate control, but I do have a say in the matter.

So, saying, “God can’t…” is a lie, but he won’t violate you will (your choice and your decisions).  Therefore, although God can do all things He can’t do something that He said He won’t do.  He won’t lie, therefore He can’t.  He won’t violate your will (choice and decisions), therefore He can’t.  Therefore, it’s really a question of wording (phraseology).  Can’t or won’t.

There is really only one thing that God can’t do, I saw this while looking at a rubber bracelet that my pastor gave me.  God can’t do nothing (I know, that sounds like bad grammar).  Think about it, many people think all they need to do is confess that Jesus is Lord according to Romans 10:9-10, then they can sit back and relax, in other words do nothing, and they expect God to be with them.  God can’t do nothing.
