What Did Paul Do?

Paul said, “Follow me as I follow Christ.”

“Whatever you have learned or received or heard from me, or seen in me—put it into practice. And the God of peace will be with you,” (Philippians 4:9 New International Version).

The things that Paul did and taught He learned from Jesus.  Some of you are thinking, ‘Paul was not even in the picture when Jesus did His thing.’  He sure was; he just wasn’t spoken of because he was only one in the crowd, a student of the Pharisees.  But, Paul was probably about 30 years old when Jesus was crucified (an estimate).

Did Paul cast out demons in Jesus’ name?  There is, at least one time that he did, there were probably many times but one time that I know of.

“She kept this up for many days. Finally Paul became so annoyed that he turned around and said to the spirit, “In the name of Jesus Christ I command you to come out of her!” At that moment the spirit left her,” (Acts 16:18 New International Version).

Did Paul lay hands on the sick?  Sure, He did.  He got people healed by speaking over then and by laying hands on them.

“And it came to pass, that the father of Publius lay sick of a fever and of a bloody flux: to whom Paul entered in, and prayed, and laid his hands on him, and healed him,” (Acts 28:8 King James Version).

Paul was baptized in the Holy Spirit and he spoke, prayed and sang in unknown—unlearned tongues; unknown to anyone but God and unlearned by Paul and all around him.

“I give thanks to God that I speak in tongues more than all of you,” (1 Corinthians 14:18 The Passion Translation).

He was even used to baptize others in the Holy Spirit.  Now, this baptism is not only done by the laying on of hands.  But, people can just pray over you and if you will receive and are willing to sound ‘foolish’ you can be baptized.

“Then Paul placed his hands on them. The Holy Spirit was given to them, and they spoke unknown languages and prophesied,” Acts 19:6 Contemporary English Version).

When I was baptized in the Holy Spirit no one laid hands on me.  I have prayed for people to receive this baptism but they lied about being receptive.  They claim that they wanted this baptism, but they didn’t; they just wanted something else.  So, I prayed for them and they didn’t receive; it wasn’t my fault and it wasn’t the Holy Spirit’s fault because He knows who will receive Him and He knows, better than me, who is lying.

But anyway, Paul told us to do what he did because he did what Jesus did.  He started by receiving Jesus as Lord and receiving the Holy Spirit baptism.  And then He went all around doing good and healing all who came to him who were oppressed of the devil.
