Who is Christ(c)?

I know, I know, you’re wondering why I use that as the title.  You’re probably thinking, “Well, Christ is Jesus,” some even think Christ is His last name.  Well. I really don’t know how to soft touch this so I’ll just say it.  NO!  Christ is a Greek word that means anointed.  Yeah, I know, I use the think it meant The Anointed also, until God spoke to me and told me that it just means anointed.  Now, when referring to Jesus it is capitalized and is talking about the anointed.  But now, what was Jesus anointed with?  Yes, Jesus was anointed with the Holy Spirit of God (Acts 10:38).

“But if I am doing them and you don’t believe Me, believe the works. This way you will know and understand that the Father is in Me and I in the Father,” (John 10:38 Holman Christian Standard Bible).

The Holy Spirit is the Spirit of the Father and Jesus is the body; so, when Jesus said, “Father is in Me and I in the Father,” He was saying, “God’s Spirit is in me (I am born of God) and now I am in the Spirit of God, I am anointed.”  Well, that would seem a whole lot like He was bragging, but what He was telling His disciples was the He was baptized in the Holy Spirit.

You know that before Jesus started His ministry He went to John and was baptized in water.  You also know that when Jesus went to the cross He became our substitute—in what?  He became our substitute in death; He went to the cross so that we wouldn’t have to.  Some have the mistaken idea that Jesus became our substitute in everything, meaning He did it all in our stead.  But that would be like saying, ‘when we get born again we should go to heaven right away because Jesus did everything for us.’  Can you see how ridiculous that would is?

“[Be Imitators of God] Therefore become imitators of God [copy Him and follow His example], as well-beloved children [imitate their father],” (Ephesians 5:1 Amplified Bible).

How can anyone who reads that not understand that Jesus wants His disciples to do what He did?  When a person gets born again he thinks he must get water baptized because Jesus got water baptized.  Jesus also got baptized in the Holy Spirit (that’s what many disciples call being anoint with the Holy Spirit), but many of those who think that about water baptism don’t think they need to be baptized in the Holy Spirit.  Some think that because Jesus was baptized in the Holy Spirit then they don’t have to.  But Jesus was baptized in water…

Anyway, Jesus said to His disciples, “Receive the Holy Spirit,” (John 20:22).

Ya know, when Jesus said to His disciples who truly believed in Him that they would prove that they truly believed in Him by doing that very works that He did (continuing His ministry (Acts 1:1)) He knew that they couldn’t do any of it before they received and were baptized in the Holy Spirit.  He clued them in when He said, “God’s Spirit is in me (I am born of God) and now I am in the Spirit of God, I am anointed.”  This is why Jesus said to His disciples, “Receive the Holy Spirit.”

“To this He answered, “No worries.  That time is not now, and you don’t need to know when it will be.  Just know this, you shall be enveloped in power once you are baptized in the Holy Spirit.  This must be by your acceptance because the Father will never force anything upon anyone.  But when you have this power you will witness—represent and spread the good news—of me, starting at home then spreading out,” (Acts 1:7-8 Steadfast in Honor).

They would have had no power to do any of the things that Jesus did until they were baptized (anointed) with and in the Holy Spirit of God.  Does that mean they are Gods?  Absolutely not.  What it means is they works that Jesus told them that they would do, as for copying Him, they could do with the guidance and assistance of God.
