I was reading from the first chapter of James and when I got to this verse I had to stop and pray.   Ya see, the verse before this verse says,

“If any of you lacks wisdom, you should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to you,” (James 1:5 New International Version).

I was reading from the first chapter of James and when I got to this verse I had to stop and pray.   Ya see, the verse before this verse says,

“Therefore I tell you, whatever you ask for in prayer, believe that you have received it, and it will be yours,” (Mark 11:24 New International Version). Read verses 25-22, in that order.

I was reading from the first chapter of James and when I got to this verse I had to stop and pray.   Ya see, the verse before this verse says,

“Stay joined to me and let my teachings become part of you. Then you can pray for whatever you want, and your prayer will be answered,” (John 15:7 Contemporary English Version).

This means, what Jesus is saying here is, if you come to Him, stay with Him, listen and do His teachings (what He had written and what He says to you, they will both line up together) then you will know His will and that will become your will.  Then you can ask what your will desires, you can believe for it.  If you don’t doubt or waver over the manifestation time it will manifest for you.

So, what if we keep on praying over and over for the same thing?  There is only one kind of prayer where praying over and over is accepted.  That is when you are praying for someone else as intercessory prayer (things like praying for our president for God’s guidance, for crusade and revival, and for church growth).  But when you are praying for something for yourself or praying in agreement with someone else for some thing it’s not normal to need to pray over and over for the same thing.

At this point, after you had put your faith out there for what you prayed for and believe for it your faith will tell God that you believe for it.  If, then, you start doubting and wavering your faith will fall.  Then you may as well pray again; this prayer will be, to look at it, the first time you prayed.  Now, keep your faith strong and don’t doubt or the same thing will happen.  Every time you pray for the same thing you are telling God that your first faith had died and you are starting afresh.  Do yourself a favor; pray once and don’t doubt or waver.

A personal testimony:  One time a long time ago, I prayed for a certain car, I wrote down specifics.  Then I went to a car dealership and told the manager exactly what the car was that was coming in.  He probably would have given me the car when it came in if I hadn’t wavered.  As it happened, I wavered by looking at over cars and thinking, out loud, ‘Maybe I should have prayed for that.’  The car never came in to the dealership.

Early one morning Big J and crew were walking down the Mount of Olives to Jerusalem when Joshua felt hungry.  Seeing a fig tree the group stopped to look for figs on it because it was in full bloom and there should have been figs.  If that tree could have talked it would have said to Joshua, “Ha ha ha, fooled you.  You ain’t getting no fruit from me.”

Big J said to it, “In that case no one will ever get fruit from you.”  And the group went on.  The very next morning they passed by that same tree and Peter noticed it, “Lord, this is so cool.  This fig tree that you curse yesterday; it’s dead.”

Big J simply said, “It’s the faith of God in action.  Now, this is how you use the faith of God.  You say to the obstacle, whatever it is, ‘Get out of the way’ and don’t doubt the words of faith that you speak and the thing will have to obey your words.  You can pray and ask for whatever you want according to God’s Word and if you truly believe that you have received it—as in already—it is yours.  But, before you pray, if you are in unforgiveness with anyone—anyone at all—forgive them, because then God can forgive you.,” (Mark 11:22-35 Steadfast in Honor).

“But when you ask, you must believe and not doubt, because the one who doubts is like a wave of the sea, blown and tossed by the wind.  That person should not expect to receive anything from the Lord,” (James 1:6-7 New International Version).
